HEADLIGHT LENS REPLACEMENT
Over time the headlight lens cover will become pitted, scratched and generally opaque instead of clear. if you don't want to mess with tryping to polish the lens cover then the only other option is to replace it.EQUIPMENT, SKILL, TIME, PARTS
The only tool that is needed is the screw driver that is part of the trunk tool kit (the one pictured here is #71-11-1-179-629. This is a simple part to replace. This replacement should take about an hour or less. Make sure your parts work for your vehicle.STEP #1:
The first step in replacing the lens cover is to remove the turn indicator. In 2000’s forward models the turn indicator is held in by a screw. In late 90’s models the turn indicator is held in place with a barbed lever arm. In either case the release can be accessed through the slot on the left.

STEP #2:
I use the screwdriver from the trunk tool kit to press the lever arm down to release the turn indicator light. Once it is released, pull the turn indicator light straight out.STEP #3:
Undo the power connector and remove the whole turn indicator assembly. The next step is to remove the lower headlight trim from under the headlight. It is held in place by three clips.
Here is the first clip:
Here is the second clip:
The third clip is all the way to the left, I just left my clipped in since that one is a royal pain to undo.
Next step is to remove the gasket over the top of the lens cover. On my car this is held in place with 5 clips just undo each one and pull it free.
STEP #4:
Disconnect the switch from the wiring harness by releasing the wiring harness catch. This is a typical electrical connector with a release tab in the middle that needs to be depressed then the wiring harness can be unplugged.STEP #5:
Now you are ready to remove the headlight lens cover. In my car the cover is held in place by 3 clips on the top, one clip on the side and 3 clips on the bottom. I use the screwdriver from the trunk tool kit to lift up each clip. I have found that undoing the clips from the side of the car inward works best.STEP #6:
Follow this guide in reverse to reassemble.
